The front desk number reaches a person in this building, not a call centre in another city. At three in the morning it reaches whoever is on night duty, and they will answer it.
State Highway 1 north through Mosgiel, then the Southern Motorway, and out at the Andersons Bay Road exit for South Dunedin. Follow Hillside Road and Forbury Road to the sea. The last two kilometres are the slow ones in the afternoon.
The front desk books an airport shuttle at no charge and needs a few hours’ notice; it meets scheduled arrivals and runs about forty minutes door to door. A taxi is roughly NZ$95 and there is a rank outside the terminal.
Princes Street south, then Hillside Road and Forbury Road, or Andersons Bay Road and Victoria Road if the Hillside rail crossing is down. Both take about the same time.
Bus route 8 runs between the Octagon and the Esplanade about every half hour until early evening, and the stop is a hundred metres from the door. Fares are on a Bee Card, sold at the front desk.
State Highway 1 the whole way, through Timaru and Oamaru, with Oamaru at the two-thirds mark as the sensible stop. Into Dunedin on the Northern Motorway, through the city on the Southern Motorway, out at South Dunedin. The stretch over the Kilmog north of the city carries fog on winter mornings.
State Highway 6 to Cromwell, then State Highway 8 through Alexandra and Roxburgh to Milton, joining State Highway 1 north. Allow longer than the map says if you stop in Clyde. Chains are worth carrying between June and August, though this is not the route that closes.
Eighty-four spaces on site, behind the building, entered from Forbury Road rather than from the Esplanade. One space per room is included in the rate. The Esplanade outside is metered until 6pm and full on any warm Saturday.
Six EV chargers — four 22 kW AC and two 50 kW DC — free to house guests and NZ$0.42 per kWh to everyone else. Coach parking for two vehicles at the Forbury Road end if you ring ahead.
Step-free from the car park to reception, to The Beacon Room, to The Albion Room, to The Saltwater Bathhouse and to The Peninsula Room. A lift serves all 5 levels. Six accessible rooms on levels one and two with roll-in showers and 900 mm doorways. Two accessible parking bays beside the rear entrance.
